Yōkai Chardonnay

Yōkai began in 2021 when we made our first Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Having focused largely on Southern Rhône grapes, we were trying something different. The name draws on shapeshifting in Japanese folklore, a fitting metaphor for Saint K exploring a different side of itself.

The artwork opens a more dreamlike part of the story, where folklore slips into the wasteland and it’s harder to tell what’s real.

2021 Chardonnay

Chardonnay wasn’t part of the plan, but like the Pinot Noir on 2021, the fruit quality was a reason to change course. The Japanese dragon gives Yōkai a different form, fitting for a wine that took us somewhere we didn’t expect to go.
