Like the Snows of Yesteryear

The phrase found its way to Saint K through its usage in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds. But, Like the Snows of Yesteryear comes from an idea that is centuries old. It traces back to the 15th century French poet François Villon. It speaks to nostalgia and the understanding that nothing lasts forever.

Wine is also a moment in time. Each vintage captures a particular place and year, then gradually disappears as the bottles are opened. It is here today and gone tomorrow, something to enjoy while it lasts.

An Italian pistol, Glisenti Model 1910, is printed on a sheet of paper, with crease marks suggesting it has been folded up and carried around. It reads almost like a piece of propaganda kept as a reminder.

Another nod to Inglourious Basterds, this time with a Bowie knife at the center. The image is presented as a poster pasted over old Saint K labels, each one part of the history that got us here. Like the wine itself, each had its moment before making way for what came next. Enjoy it while it’s here.
