Gravesend
Gravesend is a destination. In the Saint K universe, it is the last remaining spaceport and the way off a damaged Earth. The labels follow the road towards it, turning a walk through the wasteland into a journey toward escape and the possibility of somewhere better.
The name also has a personal origin. Gravesend, England was the hometown of Saint K founder Chris Kiranbay’s grandmother, Kathleen. She is the “saint” behind Saint K.
2018
Chapter 1. The journey begins in the aftermath. Fires burn across a ruined landscape as the wanderer walks down an empty road. Ahead, a car offers a way out.
This is our first look at the road to Gravesend, moving through the damage and toward the possibility of escape.
2021
Chapter 2. The wanderer used the car and made it to Gravesend. Her mask lies in the road behind her, no longer needed as she enters the city. The road is still lined with destruction, but the sign ahead is a welcome indication that the journey is going as planned.
2023
Chapter 3. Inside the city limits of Gravesend, the way off Earth finally comes into view. For the first time, the wanderer is not alone. The figure waiting below represents Chris as she leads him toward the exit point.
Beyond the story, the scene marks Keith and Matt carrying Saint K into its next chapter.
