Cellular brings a new danger into a world already damaged by Flower Bomb. As the polar ice melts, a virus trapped beneath it escapes and threatens the people who remain.
The idea came before COVID. Within the larger story, it’s another consequence of a world coming apart. Now, the danger is something you can’t see.
2019
The image starts with a memory from school, peeling a layer from an onion and looking at the cells under a microscope. That familiar pattern became the starting point for Cellular. From the bottom right, a virus begins to take over the healthy cells, spreading further into the image.
